The First Step

This is the first step in my transplant journey. First a short review of how I reached this point. I was diagnosed with multiple myeloma at the end of June 2013. Induction treatment using the VRD regimen produce a near complete (98.3%)remission. After much research and a second opinion I decided to proceed with an autologus stem cell transplant. Today, January 19, 2014, I took the first step, receiving two shots of Neupogen to stimulate stem cell production in advance of stem cell harvest scheduled for 1/23. So far no ill effects. I have found it helpful while dealing with this disease to read about what others have gone through. So the purpose of this blog is to provide a play-by-play of my experience so that others who are planning a transplant can read what it is like from someone recording their experiences contemporaneously.
